Australian Churches Join the Debate

Ever since the initial introduction of online slots, governments and citizens alike have been going back and forth, debating whether to legalize the activity in the first place, and if so, how to regulate it. It has actually gotten pretty ugly, as either side feels quite passionately about their own point of view, and with money and health involved, it quickly moves to the top of the list. Of course, religion has been thrown into the mix frequently, with church leaders taking it upon themselves to exert their own moral compass on the rest of the world and their gambling habits.

Melbourne, Australia is the most recent city to join the debate, as church leaders have been appalled by the recent influx of slot machines. Never mind the whole online slots debate, they’re still stuck on the machines debate! Either way, the religious people in Melbourne are dead-set against gambling of any kind, and are definitely against the ease with which people get hooked on slots. They are saying that it causes “harm and dysfunction” for families and people in lower classes, and the their government leaders need to do something to stop the irresponsible behavior.

Of course the government knows that people like slots and will find a way to participate anyway, so they also understand that there are perks to legalizing and running and taxing your own slot machines. Revenue from those taxes of course, would help avoid any debt, and also be put back into the community.

Still, the church is expressly against slot machines, regardless of any benefits, and once somebody’s mind is so strongly made up, it is pretty much impossible to make them listen to reason. Clearly slots are the devil. Clearly.
