Pennies From Heaven

With times the way they are, it looks like people are looking to pinch pennies everywhere. From entertainment, to travel, to even gas, people are trying to save a buck or two wherever they can. Times are definitely hard, and every day there is a new article about a new way that people are being affected by the economy.

The latest shift is a rise in popularity of the penny slot machines! Once only popular among the senior set, the penny machines have become one of the most popular games to play! Now that high risk endeavors and decisions are looking less and less attractive, people are choosing to focus more on the journey than the destination. That is, gamblers who would otherwise have chosen high stakes slot machines at a casino are now reevaluating their priorities, and often deciding that the fun of  slots is from the actual game, and less from the amount of winnings (or losses).

Even the amount of gamblers that come in has decreased, since people are wary of losing money, and are having a hard time trying to justify that risk. The latest efforts include the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun tribes trying to keep people coming in with penny machines. Unfortunately, with the lower stakes , the payout potential also declines. Some casinos are considering adjusting the outflow of the lower stake machines, just to keep people coming in and coming back, again and again, even through this low economic period.

From individuals to businesses, it looks like everybody is just doing whatever it takes in order to stay afloat and survive.
